Old Halls Creek

A very silly tourist attraction.

Old Halls Creek commemorates the location of various buildings and homes which once stood here in the late 1800s. The town was picked up and moved 12km down the road to be closer to the Great Northern Highway. Today, numerous plaques are dotted about the place to let us know what once stood here.

There are no buildings or ruins remaining, except the old post office, which is a dilapidated mud brick structure, which could not be moved. All that remains are a few plaques and street signs. The Old Halls Creek Lodge & Caravan Park is also located here. Unsurprisingly, the business is for sale.

Some stones have been collected and placed on this hill to demonstrate the location of the hospital.

I think this is a part of the original foundation for the Hotel.

We take a drive through some of Old Hall Creek's unnamed roads.

Some housing lots contain markers such as this. This one shows us where lots 19 and 20 once stood.

Jase collects firewood for the evening's campfire. On the menu tonight is pork curry.

So strange that they leave rocks and things as a replacement/memory for the old buildings! Very surreal.
