Work Rest & Play Part 2

Dingoes wander the area looking for food, and can be heard howling during the night.

The carnies have arrived!  They received free board and food in exchange for a spectacular fire show for the guests.

Poker nights can reveal all sorts of things, like this very large Simpsons Python who thought the poker table would be a good place to rest!

Jase is back behind the bar.... where he belongs.

Work Rest & Play Part 1

We've been at Glen Helen Resort in central Australia for about a month now, and tried to be as versatile as possible by learning lots of new skills and giving anything a fair go.

Currently, Jase and I are working morning shift, so the alarm wakes us at 5.30am, six days per week.  What a shock to the system!!!!  (such fond memories we have of Jase literally smashing our old alarm clock when we left Mitcham!)

Jase is front-of-house: greets guests with a smile, checks in or out people who camp here or stay in the hotel, and serves guests at the bar or counter.  He is also responsible for cleaning the homestead each morning, using the computer system (which I find baffling; the computer, not Jase's using the computer!), stocking fridges, washing dishes, and between all of this he is a mighty friendly waiter.

I am back-of-house; cooking breakfast with love!  I've also worked in housekeeping and worked alongside the chef at dinner time, while Jase has waited tables.

Everything is busy and challenging, and I am well out of my comfort zone; but loving it!!!

Jase prepares the homestead for the day's customers and guests.

Just before the homestead opens for breakfast service.
