3 days on a liquid road

Not much out here; a few lizards, a few birds of prey, and so much land you can almost see the curvature of the Earth.

Actually, that's not quite true.  There's heaps out here on the Nullabor.  For once thing, much of the Eyre Hwy runs paraellel to the cliffs of the Great Australian Bight, and the view of the water against a back drop of desert is amazing.  The road can get hot, and so it can give you the feeling of halucinations as the "liquid road" reflects the sky (and clouds) and trucks.

There are gangs of motorcycles zipping past every so often as well.  It must be 'the thing to do' - to cross the Nullabor Plain on 2 wheels.  And the riders all give you a friendly wave as you pass them.

There are other types of travellers here too - sometimes a crazy person on a bicycle will come into view... which is actually nothing compared to "Trooper Trek" dude - a storm trooper traversing the Nullabor entirely on foot... and in full constume!!

The landscape itself is everchanging; from vast plains of grey grass to expanses of drought-stricken forests, not to mention the view of an endless green ocean off to your right.

Enough said?  Here's some photos of our journey.

Would you believe the road is actually dry?
