This was so much more than we expected, so much more! Entering the shop we were greeted with "Hi, welcome to Maggie's!" and were tempted by so many things to taste and try, it was difficult to get through them all. From pates, pasta sauces, jellies, to pates, dukkas, olive oils, verjuice and chutneys. What a food lovers delight!
We had skipped breakfast and so by noon were pretty hungry so we ordered some picnic fare to eat on the beautiful balcony which overlooks a large dam filled with curious and hungry turtles.
- Quince paste
- Pate
- Cheese
- Bread rolls
- Grapes
- Sultanas
- Duck rillete (that is slow cooked duck which is then poached in butter and pressed like a terrine with ghee added on top, completely decadent and naughty!)
- Green salad
- Cornichons
- Freekah salad (made with burghul and herbs)
- Caramelised onions
- Vinigarette
- Walnut bread
- A glass each of red wine
- And to finish, some delicious quince & bitter almond ice cream
- And the bill? Just $60 - unbelievable!!
Phew! Delish!!
