Arno Bay

On leaving Mount Remarkable, we came upon these ruins, representing what is left of a homestead from the 1800s.

Redbank - Arno Bay
For three nights we were practically alone on this small beach at the end of a short dirt road. The area is renowned for shark attacks so we remained vigilant and stayed out of the water. Our time here was very relaxing. The fishing was predictably dreadful but being here gave us a chance to recharge the batteries and do not much at all, just read and watch the water. Had it been less windy, on our last night we might have had a two-man party a-la movie Point Break, with fire music and alcohol (such a good mix don't you think!) but we settled for just the music and alcohol. It was nice turning up the stereo as the sun went down and the moon came up, and we danced and sang and ran up and down sanddunes for many merry hours.

The next morning heavy rain woke us from our slumber and we discovered that our camp site was starting to resemble a bowl in which rain could be collected from the surrounding area. We hastened to pack up and got the hell outta there!

Good bye Arno!
