Lesueur National Park & a nature lover's delight

Lesueur National Park contains.... get ready.... 820 species of wildflowers!!!!!  One of the signs even states than in a 80m2 area you can spot over 100 species.

We took a hike up Mt Lesueur (9 - 10km), and I packed a 5-lt container of water into my backpack, to train for some overnight hiking we have planned soon.  The pack was heavy on my shoulders, and I know now that we need to spend good money on backpacks so we don't injure ourselves.  After all, we intend to pack up to 10kg on our backs, AND hike for far greater distances, AND in sequential days!  The fitness levels fell good, despite the shoulders, and legs/knees/ankles and heart all performed well, even up the steep track to the summit of the mountain.  I hope my chiropractor is not reading this....

Anyway, the flowers (and millions of bright glittering bugs) are spectacular and we were surprised to be the only people out walking here today.  Should you be north of Perth on your travels, it's well worth the drive to see this place (and Coalseam for that matter) during Spring.
The view from the summit of Mt Lesueur should be enough to convince anyone to get off their backside and take a hike.

Black boys everywhere in all their splendid glory!

Tiny orchid.

This butterfly is positively woolley!

Little orchids are everyhwere... you just have to keep your eyes open.

Mt Lesueur is in the distance.  My 5kg bag is feeling heavy already....
